| We came, we pulled, we won...again.
Achen-Gardner Construction won first place (for the second year in a row) at the annual US Airways/City of Phoenix Aviation Department Jet Pull at the US Airways Hangar at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on October 7, 2011. We competed against 22 other teams (with 20 members on each team) by pulling a US Airways' 100,000-pound Airbus 319 (painted with the Arizona Cardinals logo) 15 feet across the tarmac and won with a time of 6.051 seconds. Last year we won with a pull time of 6.2 seconds. Not only did we win first prize, but we also helped raise more than $7,000 for the Community Service Fund Drive’s United Way Campaign.
This was the eighth year for the Jet Pull charity/competition. Teams comprised of US Airways employees pulled first followed by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and City of Phoenix teams. Teams pay an entry fee to compete in the event and food/drinks are sold at the event with all proceeds going to the United Way.
