Raintree Drive Extension: Scottsdale Road to Hayden Road CMAR
Project Owner: City of Scottsdale
Project Type: Construction Manager at Risk
Construction Dates: 12/21 to 12/23
Utilizing the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method, we worked with the City of Scottsdale (Owner) and AECOM (Design Engineer) as a team to complete this project in multiple phases over the course of three years. This project provided the first segment of reconstruction and enhancements to improve traffic flow from Scottsdale Road to the Loop 101, simplifying traffic in the airport area. The team solved numerous challenges including maintaining traffic flow and access for local businesses, coordinating with third-party utility companies, and managing scope within budget.
Work entailed widening and strategic realignment of Redfield Road, 76th Place, Acoma Drive, and 78th Way, including construction of new roundabouts at Redfield Road/76th Place and Raintree Drive/Hayden Road. The project included more than 76,000 SY of pavement, 3,500 LF of 12” to 24” RCP storm drains, 39 new catch basins, seven new storm retention basins, and 14 new retaining walls. Additional improvements included waterline relocations and realignments, new street lighting, new landscaping, and public art.
We poured sections of single curb for the new median on the north side of the second roundabout that we constructed on Hayden Road. Traffic was configured in a “football” setup as we constructed the inner part of the roundabout and the medians. This was the last phase before final paving, striping and landscaping.
