For Achen-Gardner Construction and its employees, giving back means many things. It means fiscal responsibility during turbulent times, generosity toward our community, and a willingness to step out into local neighborhoods to share our passion and enthusiasm. We believe in giving back to our employees and the communities where we live, work and play.

Golf fundraisers

Mike Kolling Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament
After the passing of a much-loved former employee, Mike Kolling, Achen-Gardner Construction teamed with his widow Jean to organize an annual Mike Kolling Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament. This event is designed to bring together friends and peers of the late Mike Kolling to celebrate his life and raise scholarship funds that benefit local construction and engineering students at Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University. To date we have hosted 10 tournaments (2008-2017) and raised nearly $200,000 in scholarships.

Chandler Horizon Rotary Club Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout
For the past 20 years Achen-Gardner Construction has sponsored this event at the San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler. Every year participants raise an average of $50,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of the East Valley, YMCA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Chandler Christian Community Center, Hunger Plus, Gift of Life, and many more. Participants pay $1 per ball to try to make a 100-yard hole-in-one and a chance to win up to $1 million in cash or one of many great daily prizes. Visit the Chandler Horizon Rotary Club website for more information.

Completed project celebrations

At the end of every construction job, the project team - including project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and city officials - gather for some good food and fun to celebrate a job well done.

Sky Kids

Achen-Gardner Construction is proud to be a charter and continuing sponsor of the Sky Kids Fly Day Events For Special Kids. Our company has supported each of the events through both cash sponsorship and volunteering. The Sky Kids events give more than 100 children with special needs an opportunity to fly in a general aviation aircraft with an expert pilot along with a parent or friend to experience the wonders and enjoyment of flight. It is a fun day on the ground too, with face painting, a BBQ lunch, Star Wars characters, yo-yo champions, helper dogs, clowns, aircraft displays, and much more. Achen-Gardner Construction holds an annual “Rest and Recuperation” weekend for our employees and their guests as a way to say thanks for the hard work and time dedicated to the company’s success. The weekend includes a golf tournament, dinner, prizes, special employee acknowledgements, and entertainment.
