Sewer Repair and Design Services CMAR
Project Owner: City of Avondale
Project Type: Construction Manager at Risk
Construction Dates: 04/22 to 10/23
This project provided critical improvements to the sanitary sewer system in several locations. It was organized into two Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) phases:
We completed the ultraviolet light cured-in-place pipe rehabilitation of more than 1,300 LF of 15” sewer line crossing under the MC-85 and Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) near Litchfield Road, requiring permitting and coordination with UPRR. We also rehabilitated three manholes including bench repairs and coatings. This work included one bypass setup with more than 8,300 LF of bypass piping to manage flows up to 0.8 MGD.
We replaced 8” to 10” sewer line in the same alignment on Dysart Road, Main Street, and 7th Street. Work included open-cut installation of more than 1,500 LF of 12” PVC sewer line. Work also included the jack and bore of more than 160 feet of pipe in a 30” casing under the UPRR, installation of 12 manholes, and two bypass setups. We worked to maintain access for businesses and residents during construction.
We installed more than 1,200 LF of sewer utilizing pipe bursting, a trenchless method of construction. The existing pipe was 8”- 10” VCP and we installed a new 12” HDPE pipe in the same alignment. We used two pull pits and one intersection pit to complete this work and the bursting section took four days. Achen-Gardner Construction is proud to be one of the first contractors in Arizona to use pipe bursting in these diameters.
