Underground Utility Construction and Water-Wastewater Improvements
Project Owner: City of Tempe
Project Type: Job Order Contracting
Construction Dates: 09/19 to 09/24
This wet infrastructure JOC includes water, sewer, reclaimed water, storm drain, and pipeline construction. To date, we have completed seven emergency repairs on water and sewer lines, the rehabilitation of 235 LF of 14” irrigation pipe using ultraviolet light cured-in-place-pipe, and the construction of eight catch basins at various locations in the City of Tempe. Other highlights include:
We installed more than 1,800 LF of 8”, 6”, and 4” water line and 29 valves (4” to 8”) on the Tempe campus at Arizona State University (ASU). We coordinated with ASU’s schedule to ensure minimal disruption to university activities during construction. As part of this project we installed a root barrier to prevent future disruption of the line by nearby tree roots.
We recently completed an emergency repair on a broken water line at Curry Road and Stadem Drive where the break had caused water to flood onto Curry Road. Our crews were onsite to contain the break within one hour of receiving the call. The existing 8” water line had breaks in several more areas, so to reduce the impact to the surrounding area we replaced 300 LF with 8” pipe in the same alignment. We maintained water services to the surrounding businesses with bypasses.
We are working on the installation of more than 400 linear feet of 12” ductile iron water main at the ASU Tempe Campus on College Avenue from Lemon Street to Apache Boulevard. Also included are two fire hydrants, 4” and 6” building connections, service connections, asphalt pavement, bike lane striping, a bike loop detector, concrete sidewalk, and landscape and irrigation restorations.
