LITCHFIELD SQUARE INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS CMAR
Project Owner: City of Litchfield Park
Project Type: Construction Manager at Risk
This project will create a new city center for the City of Litchfield park which will encourage future development, distinguishing the City as an all-inclusive, live-work-play destination while retaining the City’s foundation of rich traditions and history. Work includes several phases:
Demolition, clearing and grubbing, removals, mass grading, and installation of more than 3,200 LF of sewer line (8” and 6”) and 2,000 LF of water line (12” and 6”).
Installation of more than 2,000 LF of storm drain (30”, 24”, and 18”), a Bio Clean UrbanPond stormwater retention system, four dry wells, eight manholes, two catch basins, and more than 4,000 LF of water line (12” and 8”).
Installation of more than 1,300 LF of 24”, 30”, and 36” storm drain on Neolin Avenue in a residential neighborhood adjacent to the Wigwam Resort. An existing Liberty Utilities water line parallel to the new storm drain needed to be shut down to avoid conflicts, so we are providing temporary water services for ten residents and the Wigwam Resort during construction. Work also includes installation of five storm drain manholes and related catch basins and restoration.
Roadway construction, including four roundabouts and other improvements.
We’ve completed improvements to Litchfield Rd and Village Pkwy (from Litchfield Rd to Desert Ave). The next phase is also well underway: Honeysuckle Street (from Old Litchfield Rd to Desert Ave) roadway and sidewalk improvements are nearing completion. The community has been able to use this street and has been taking advantage of the new parking stalls. All streets around the park have been base paved, making our paving total more than 19,900 SY thus far.
An official groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 15, 2021. Emcee Matthew Williams (City Manager, City of Litchfield Park) introduced speakers Dan Spitza (Vice President, Achen-Gardner Construction), Woody Scoutten (City Engineer, City of Litchfield Park), and Thomas Schoaf (Mayor, City of Litchfield Park). In attendance were members of the City Council, past Mayors and City Council members, local residents and stakeholders, and members of the project team including EPS Group (Design Engineer), MakPro Services (Public Outreach and Communication), and Achen-Gardner. Speakers highlighted the importance of this project in transforming the City’s downtown area while blending with local architecture and educating about the City’s history.
