LOOP 101 AND 202 FREEWAY WATERLINE AND SEWER REHABILITATION CMAR
Project Owner: City of Chandler
Project Type: Construction Manager at Risk
Construction Dates: 11/21 to 06/22
This project required the replacement of more than 3,000 LF of 36”, 30”, and 24” water line at the intersection of the Loop 101 and Loop 202, including 680 LF of 30” water line installed in the 48” casing under the Loop 202 and 450 LF of 36” water line installed in the 54” casing under the Loop 101. This work began with our emergency response to a water line break in this area in 2018. We completed emergency cleanup and channeling of water from the break, internal joint repairs, removal and replacement of the failed section of pipe, and fabrication and installation of valves, tees, manholes, and manways. We completed an investigation and assessment that showed the pipeline needed further rehabilitation or replacement. This work was completed as part of our Water Main and Valve Installation, Replacement, and Emergency Repairs JOC.
This project involved the rehabilitation of existing casings, replacement of 30” and 36” pipeline in existing casings under both the 101 and 202 Freeways, replacement of 30” and 36” outside the casings and within the Arizona Department of Transportation right-of-way (ADOT ROW) at the Loop 101/202 interchange, installation of 10 valve vaults and valves, replacement of existing valves, realignment of a segment of water line to move it out of Price Road, and removal/replacement of ADOT concrete drainage channel to facilitate the construction of service pits for removal of the existing pipe.
