Cactus Road (BNSF RAILROAD CROSSING TO LITCHFIELD ROAD)

This project includes roadway improvements to Cactus Road from Litchfield Road to the east of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway within the City of Surprise. This will include curb, gutter, and sidewalk concrete work, three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, and two-way left turn lanes with raised medians. We will also complete median changes to Waterworks Drive and install drainage, water and sewer lines and services, one sewer manhole, a dry well, street lights, traffic signals, conduits, and landscaping. Achen-Gardner is also self-performing excavation of six new retention basins and backfill of an irrigation basin that was formerly used for farming. The project includes a total of nearly 18,000 CY of excavation. The entire project will require coordination with the BNSF Railway as we widen the roadway that crosses the tracks.
