Valencia Road Project Wins Partnering Excellence Award
We are excited to announce that our partnership with Pima County Department of Transportation on the Valencia Road (Mark Road to Wade Road) project has been awarded a 2016 Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award in the Roadway Construction $5M to $25M category. The award will be presented to the project team during a session of the 66th Annual Roads and Streets Conference on April 14, 2017, at the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Arizona.
The Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Awards competition is designed to recognize partnership teams that demonstrate a high degree of achievement through their practice of the Partnering principles and application of the Partnering processes related to the transportation industry. Partnering is defined as “a formal process of collaborative teamwork to achieve measurable results through agreements and productive working relationships.” Tangible deliverables of a formal Partnering process may include a communications and roles matrix, a charter (mission, goals and guidelines), an issue resolution process and agreements, action plans, evaluation methods, meeting follow-up and reporting. Valencia Road (Mark Road to Wade Road) was Achen-Gardner's first project with Pima County Department of Transportation and this is our first Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award. We look forward to more partnering opportunities with Pima County Department of Transportation and other agencies across the Southwest. Visit the Valencia Road (Mark Road to Wade Road) project page on our website to see more project information and photos.

56th Street Project Wins Crescordia Award
Achen-Gardner Construction's 56th Street Reconstruction CMAR project has won Arizona Forward's most prestigious Environmental Excellence Award.
We are very excited to announce that our Town of Paradise Valley 56th Street Reconstruction CMAR project has been awarded a Crescordia award in the Healthy Communities - Multimodal Transportation & Connectivity category. The award was presented at Arizona Forward’s 36th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards ceremony on September 10, 2016, at the Arizona Grand Resort. Arizona Forward initiated the Environmental Excellence Awards in 1980 to recognize outstanding contributions to the physical environment of local communities. The program has grown significantly and now serves as a benchmark for promoting sustainability, conserving natural resources, and preserving our unique desert environment for future generations. Since introducing the Environmental Excellence Awards program, the coveted Crescordia — a Greek term which means “To Grow in Harmony” — has been given as the highest honor in each category.
This is the first Crescordia for a project constructed by Achen-Gardner though we did recieve Arizona Forward Awards of Merit for two past projects: City of Phoenix's Centennial Way Federal Aid Transportation Enhancement project and the City of Chandler's South Arizona Avenue Corridor Improvements project.
The 56th Street Reconstruction project has won many other state and national awards. See the project page for more information.
